EEW receives ESG Risk Rating -
Clear path to sustainability

First ESG Risk Rating

In 2022, EEW received its first ESG Risk Rating from ESG rating agency MorningStar Sustainalytics with the rating “medium risk.” On a scale of 0 to 100 points (0=low risk, 100=high risk), the rating evaluates the risks companies are exposed to and how well they are managing them. With a rating score of 23.4 points (“medium risk”), Morningstar Sustainalytics confirmed that EEW deals transparently and responsibly with the risks identified as material.

The rating shows that our sustainability activities are transparent and that we are actively managing them.

Important source of information

Background information about the rating: Sustainability and economic success are closely linked – also at EEW. When assessing companies, it is becoming increasingly important to view their contribution towards climate and resource protection along with their economic and social goals. The ESG rating is thus acquiring an increasingly high status as a source of information. An ESG rating can help with third-party categorisation and supports better comparability of risks. This additional transparency enables companies to access a broader base of investors for capital market finance, such as bonds and borrower’s note loans – and this is also true for EEW.

The good rating results will spur us on to further minimise our risks and even more actively pursue our sustainability activities.

Birgit Fröhlig
Head of Corporate Sustainability EEW

The rating shows that EEW’s sustainability activities are transparent and actively managed. Building on these results, EEW wants to steadily refine its strategy and use the feedback from the rating process.

Management in the “Health and Safety at Work” sphere, in particular, was rated as very low risk. This assessment is based on the fact that every facility is ISO 45001 certified and has an excellent health and safety management system with operating guidelines and special training.
